NONGPOH: With the 2013 Assembly Polls just round the corner, electorates should now be aware of false Samaritans coming in disguise of wannabe legislators who tend to give false promises, at times very moving ones like bearing of medical expenditures but all in vain.

One such incident has come to light in Jirang constituency where wannabe legislator and independent candidate from the constituency, Wallambok Mylliemngap and his supporters left a poor man suffering from cancer high and dry.

Kephas Thangkhiew (65) father of 5 children who hails from Mynnar village in Old Jirang under Jirang Constituency was suffering from Cancer for the last 2-3 years. It was then that two alleged supporters of Mylliemngap identified as one Khonglam and Mor Lyngdoh from Patharkhmah and Wahsynon respectively took him (Thangkhiew) to KJP Hospital, Shillong for providing treatment for his ailment and promised that Mylliemngap will bear all the expenses for his treatment. This was all in vain as they left him in the hospital without any payment for treatment and medicines.

Kephas Thangkhiew, while informing this scribe who visited him at his residence at Jirang, said that, he was taken to Shillong for treatment by the supporter of Mylliemngap who promised him that he (Mylliemngap) will bear all the expenses in the hospital for the treatment, but after he was admitted in the hospital and the operation was done he was left alone without any payment and was abandoned in the hospital by those supporters. He also informed that, they (Mylliemngap supporters) had only provided him and his wife Rs. 500 per week to meet their daily need which was not enough for the payment of his medicine and daily meal owing to which, he had to live a very hard life in the hospital.

He was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong for further treatment but being left with no option, he left the hospital with the help of his nephew and on reaching to his residence, his condition became deteriorated, Thangkhiew whispered.

Over this incident, family members of Kephas Thangkhiew have strongly condemned the Independent candidate Wallambok Mylliemngap and his two supporters identified as Khonglam and Mor Lyngdoh for their false promises and their act.
