NLFT kidnaps three youths

Agartala: Three tribal youths were kidnapped by insurgents of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT-BM) from a remote village of Tripura’s Dhalai district, police said on Wednesday.

They were identified as Birendra Tripura (16), Chitya Tripura (15) and Subrata Kumar Tripura, according to reports available with the police.

A nine-member group headed by self-styled rebel Rata Tripura raided Purabsinghpara and Desharaipara under Raishyabari police station on Tuesday night and kidnapped three tribal youths- Birendra, Chitya and Subrata at gun point on Tuesday night.

Sources said, three youths were kidnapped after as declined to pay extortion to the NLFT.

Sources said, immediately after the incident, the militant group crossed over the Gandacherra border and entered into Bangladesh territory.

The group, sources claimed has nine members with six AK serious rifles and two IED.

After receiving the information, Superintendent of Police (Dhalai) L Darlong along with heavy reinforcement visited the place today and asked the security forces to launch operation to rescue the kidnapped youths.

Meanwhile, another group- around 11 members of the banned outfit NLFT has been camping at remote areas of Chawmanu area. The rebel leader Buddhijoy Tripura has been leading the group which looks set to attack on security personnel deployed in different remote villages.

On November 13, another NLFT group tried to kidnap one villager- Katarai Tripura, member of Ratannagar ADC village but could not success.

According to sources, Katarai left the house before the militant stormed into his house and had taken shelter at a TSR camp.
