SHILLONG: Despite an FIR lodged by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB), police has refused to take action against those people who are responsible for dumping garbage on the whole stretch of the road leading to BK Bajoria School.

Official sources on Wednesday informed that the SMB has deputed its employees to keep a watch on those people who are dumping garbage along this particular road.

“After keeping a close watch for quite a number of days, the SMB employees found that there are many people who come with their vehicles during the night hours to dump garbage along this particular road,” official sources said.

Since the SMB is not authorized to take any kind of legal action against these people, the employees only noted the registration number of those vehicles.

“The SMB then lodged the FIR with the police demanding necessary action against those who were dumping the garbage. We had also mentioned the registration numbers of the vehicles to help the police in locating those people. But sadly, the police refused to take any action on the basis of the FIR,” the official sources said.

When contacted, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang said that he is yet to receive any complaint from the SMB in this connection.
