Donation
The ICICI Bank and ICICI Foundation have donated a ‘Drager Ventilator’ to Super Care Hospital, Shillong. The equipment was handed over by Sushanta Nayak, Regional Head, Meghalaya, ICICI Bank, to Dr RS Thankhiew, MD of Super Care Hospital. The hospital MD said this will enable poor patients to get free services from the ventilator, adding that the equipment will be placed in their ICU. He also lauded the ICICI Bank for the noble gesture.

The Patanjali Yog Samiti, Northeast, recently presented senior yog teacher from Meghalaya, Vivekanand Panditji, during its ongoing 1st Northeast Assistant Yog Teacher Training Camp 21. “He displayed yog skills based on Yogasanas and Pranamayas,” a statement in this regard said.
Local holiday
West Garo Hills district administration has declared July 16 a holiday across the district to commemorate the observance of Garo Labour Corps Day. In an order, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said all government offices, magisterial courts and education institutions will remain closed during the day. Garo Labour Corps Day commemorates the return of the Garos who went to France during the First World War to assist the allied forces against the German invaders.
Meanwhile in West Jaintia Hills, the Deputy Commissioner declared July 19 a local holiday in the district on account of Behdienkhlam festival of Sein Raij Tuber. All state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts and educational institutions located in West Jaintia Hills will remain closed on the day, the DC said in an order. In a separate order, the district magistrate of East Jaintia Hills, said that all banking Institutions within the district will remain closed on July 19, after earlier declaring a holiday.
