TURA, July 14: A woman was killed in Phulbari area after a pick-up truck ran over her twice while she was boarding an auto rickshaw to head to her family home.
The incident occurred three days ago when the 37-year-old victim, Anarkuli Bibi, of Haripur village in Phulbari was trying to board an auto rickshaw outside her home when a bolero pick-up mini truck coming from behind hit her and ran over her leg. She would have survived had it not been for the driver, identified as one Enamul Hoque, reversing the vehicle and in the process driving over her already injured limbs.
Doctors at Bhaitbari were unable to treat her and directed the family to rush her to Goalpara for better medical treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver fled the scene after abandoning his vehicle in front of a school
The victim’s family has, meanwhile, demanded that the accused be brought to justice.
