TURA, July 15: Doctors in East Garo Hills on Wednesday successfully performed, for the first time, a Caesarean section on a COVID-19 patient.
The complicated surgery was successfully conducted at the Williamnagar Civil Hospital by Dr Dylan G Momin with the help of two other doctors — Conrade Sangma and Mepalchi Sangma — and other hospital staff.
Speaking about the surgery, conducted for first time in the district, Momin said that both mother and daughter are recovering in the COVID ward of the hospital.
It may be mentioned that Dr Momin had earlier too conducted emergency C-sections on COVID patients during his posting at the Maternity and Child Hospital in Tura. Meanwhile, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe took to social media and congratulated the doctors and the team. “Hats off to the doctors and the entire team of the Williamnagar Civil Hospital,” the DC said.
