Shillong, July 16: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has announced that the state government will provide incentives to encourage pregnant women to visit healthcare centres for institutional delivery prior to their due date.
The chief minister, while speaking to media persons on Friday, also informed that institutional deliveries have helped reduce the risk of maternal mortality rate to a certain extent.
Informing about MOTHER app, which monitors pregnant women at high risk, Conrad said, “We had taken this initiative to provide special attention to these pregnant mothers in the three districts of Garo Hills region. There was not even a single death of pregnant mother in the past four months in these districts.”
Informing that there are around 10 to 15 per cent of pregnant mother who are at high risk, the chief minister said that through the data-driven model, primary data on pregnant women are collected by the medical officers and health functionaries through a mobile app.
The data is updated regularly and can be monitored by the chief minister and other health officials.
