NONGSTOIN, Sep 8: In what can be termed as a boost for the National People’s Party (NPP) in view of the upcoming Assembly elections in 2023, around 200 Congress and HSPDP workers along with other primary members have, on Wednesday, pledged their support to the NPP in Rambrai Jyrngam Constituency.
The Congress and HSPDP supporters have extended their cooperation and have decided to work for the NPP.
The supporters were welcomed into the party by president of West Khasi Hills NPP and Nongstoin MLA, Macmillan Byrsat, working president of NPP District Unit, Gigur Myrthong, and president of NPP Rambrai Jyrngam Block, W Champion Paliar.
The new party entrants also included BI Nongsiej, a strong supporter of Congress and Bansaiohbor Mawtyllup, president of HSPDP Rambrai Area. The new NPP supporters have said that Rambrai, one of the remote constituencies in the state, has no sign of development and road connectivity has taken a turn for the worse while there is also no upgrade of educational institutes and health infrastructure.
District president of NPP Macmillan Byrsat, while expressing happiness, maintained that this will not only boost the morale of the leaders but also ensure victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in 2023.
