SHILLONG, Sep 13: Meghalaya has administered around 14 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine till date, Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma said on Monday.
“A total number of 10.42 lakh beneficiaries have already been given their first dose and 3.59 lakh have got both their doses,” the Chief Minister told reporters on Monday.
He also observed that there has been a continuous decline in the numbers of COVID-19 cases even though there is a spike once in a while. “But more or less we are seeing a trend that the numbers are going down. We are also seeing a trend where the number of people succumbing to the viral infection has come down,” Sangma said.
The CM however sounded a word of caution saying that it was not the time to be complacent and take things for granted. “We have to remain alert and strictly follow the protocols. Things have slightly improved as compared to few months back. Let us see and watch how the situation unfolds in the coming months,” he said.
Stating that the number proves that vaccination does help, Sangma urged the citizens to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
Meghalaya on Monday recorded 226 fresh cases while three more patients succumbed to the viral infection, taking the death toll to 1,359.
The active tally stands at 1,859 while the number of patients who have recovered has gone up to 75,141 including 177 on Monday.
