Man gets three years in jail for rape attempt

SHILLONG, Sep 21: The Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, East Khasi Hills, has awarded three years and one month of imprisonment to a person for attempting to rape a woman.
According to a police statement on Tuesday, the perpetrator, Bison Surong, who hails from Mynsang village, had attempted to rape a woman on August 27, 2018, at her residence.
After the incident, a case was registered against Surong, and following the completion of investigation he was charge-sheeted.
After the trial, Surong was convicted of the crime and was sentenced to imprisonment for three years and a month with a fine of Rs 1,000.
