SHILLONG: The CSWO (Agnes) on Tuesday appealed to the State Government to stop giving statements on funds constraints when it comes to constructing shelter homes for children and initiating the Fast Track Courts for trying rape cases.

“If there are no funds then the organization would recommend that MLA schemes, which are being misused, be stopped and the necessary funds should be diverted for shelter homes and Fast Track Courts so that the society remains safe and secured from all threats of violence, especially against women and children,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement on Tuesday.

The public are no fools. They can very well see that many legislators have become super rich just being legislators. It is also sensible to stop MLA funds especially as they are not transparent and accountable,” she said.
