SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong, Umiam has expressed their shock and surprise at the sudden decision of the Government to transfer senior police officer, Claudia Lyngwa as Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police.
“In terms of law and order, she (Lyngwa) as the SP of the district has been able to bring about security and safety in the area of the Dorbar especially in areas where there is a mixed population,” Umiam Dorbar Shnong secretary Pahara Donbar said in a statement issued here on Thursday. In view of the expansion of the Shillong-Guwahati National Highway, Donbar said that several inconvenience such as traffic jams have been dealt with successfully by Lyngwa.
In the light of these facts, he said that the Dorbar Shnong would like to request the Government to reconsider its decision especially with the Assembly election round the corner.
