NONGPOH, Oct 2: As many as 14 people of a family were injured and three were critically hurt when the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Ri Bhoi on Saturday.
All the injured were rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital.
According to sources, an overspeeding Baleno (ML-10B-9539), proceeding towards Shillong, sprang over a divider along a stretch of NH-6 and smote the bonnet and windshield of a passenger vehicle (Sumo), which was coming from the other side.
It was also informed that all the injured occupants inside the passenger vehicle are member of the same family hailing from Nongthliew village in East Khasi Hills.
Police sources informed that the driver of the Baleno, who was also injured in the incident, has been shifted to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh.
Investigation into the matter is under way.
