GUWAHATI:The Assam government on Wednesday sounded an alert throughout the state in view of the Mumbai serial blasts on Wednesdayevening. A government spokesman said in the wake of reports of presence of several terrorist groups here, the alert was sounded and additional security pickets posted in vulnerable areas. Entry and exit points of important cities and towns were being guarded round-the-clock and vehicles checked. North East Frontier Railway (NFR) sources said security have already been tightened along the tracks particularly after the recent IED blast near Rangiya which caused derailment of several compartments of the Guwahati-Puri Express and left nearly 100 people injured.
