SHILLONG, Oct 28: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will launch its enrolment drive in the state from November 1 through online as well as offline mode.
Informing this on Thursday, MPCC president Vincent H Pala said that the All India Congress Committee has directed the state Congress to undertake a mass enrolment drive.
He added that in connection with the directive, the MPCC has developed a technology, which, he claims, will provide anybody wishing to join the party become a member within few minutes after due verification.
Interested individuals will then have to send a WhatsApp message “Hi” or “Hello” to 9077909175, the state Congress chief said while adding that offline enrolment will also take place.
After sending the message, the system will seek the details of the individuals such as their names, photo from an identity card and a selfie, following which details will be verified.
After the process is over, the members will also be issued a digital identity card and a bar code which will be used by individuals to register their presence in meetings of the party.
The state Congress chief also explained that selfie has been made a requirement to thwart any misuse, while adding that the party is looking to enrol at least 30 per cent of the voters in the state.
