SHILLONG, Nov 10: Congress leader Marbud Dkhar, on Wednesday, relinquished his posts as the general secretary of the Shillong City Congress Committee in-charge of Frontal Organisation and working president of Mawlai Block Congress Committee. Dkhar handed over his resignation letter to president of Shillong City Congress Committee, Charles Pyngrope.
“I have no personal issue with anyone in the party. I had joined the Congress party under the leadership of the party MLA from Mawlai. But I feel it will be better to leave the party since there is no understanding on how to organise and strengthen the party,” he said.
According to him, the main objective of being a part of any party is to raise issues afflicting the people.
“I strongly feel that there is a need for a political revival since the Khasi community does have a real leader at present. I would like to continue to serve the people to fulfill various pending demands,” Dkhar, who had unsuccessfully contested the MDC election from Mawlai on a Congress ticket in 2019, said.
