Causal health staff demand release of 10-month dues

NONGSTOIN, Nov 18: Casual employees of the Health department in West Khasi Hills, under the umbrella of West and South West Khasi Hills Progressive Health Workers’ Union, have demanded of the state government to immediately release their salary, which is pending for 10 months.
The employees have given the government before the end of this month to release their dues, failing which they will agitate.
They have also demanded regular payment of their salaries henceforth, besides regulating them as ‘Regular Casual Employees’.
According to the president of the Union, K Marwein, around 94 casual employees in West Khasi Hills employed by the Health department have not received their regular salary since March 2021 till date.
