SHILLONG: The BJP candidate from Nongthymmai Ehkupar Nongrum is of the view that youths can play an important role in the state politics.

Speaking to media persons here recently, Ehkupar Nongrum said that youths of the State should be in a better position and they too should come out and play an important role in the politics and state building.

The Nongthymmai constituency is witnessing a multi-cornered cornered contest between Congress candidate Charles Pyngrope, UDP candidate Jemino Mawthoh , KHNAM candidate Masnosha Warjri, BJP’s Ehkupar Nongrum and HSPDP candidate Bhabok Syiem.

Reacting to a query whether contesting on a BJP ticket would hamper his prospects as often BJP is termed as a communal party, he said that BJP is not at all a communal party and it is only propaganda of vested interest to defame the party.

“People from all communities are in the party,” he told reporters.
