Kohima: The Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday organised a peace rally, processioned from various parts of the town, which culminates at Traffic Point Wokha Town with an aim to appeal and educate the public and electorate to shun violence during this forthcoming Nagaland Assembly elections.
Addressing the gathering the Deputy Commissioner Wokha Vyasan R appealed all to shun violence during the period, Election will come and go but its up to the people to maintain peaceful environment.
He finally reminds the students to shoulder responsibility upon the family and the society and to target mainly on their studies.
A Clean Election mass prayer walk was also organised by Mangkolemba Baptist Church started from Kombani to Hokiyong ward of Mongkolembe under the Mokokchung town this morning.
According to official sources, thousands of people gathered to take part in the mass procession in Mangkolemba town. People carried placards of slogans and voiced against those who are violating law and order in the town.
The use of drug and liquor was strongly opposed by the different leaders, who read out the Bible and appealed to the people to do what is right in the sight of God and man.
