SHILLONG: Several contesting candidates have come under the scanner of Hynneiwtrep National People Federation (HNPF).

At a press conference here on Monday, the HNPF president Ronnie Ranee.said that the people should elect those candidates who work for the development of their constituencies post elections.

Appreciating the role played by the legislators like Ardent Basaiwmoit , Conrad Sangma, James Sangma , Manas Chaudhuri, and HS Lyngdoh, the HNPF leader said the concerned candidates had taken up several issues concerning the State during the Assembly sessions.

“The voters should elect people who can give ideas for the improvement of the State,” Ranee added.

The HNPF also expressed concern over the stand of Congress candidate RC Laloo who was not available whenever the NGO members wanted to meet him.

According to Ranee, the HNPF has certain reservations about legislator Sanbor Shullai who tried to raise his hand against the then Assembly Speaker Bindo Lanong in the State Assembly during the power struggle between the Congress and the regional

parties.

“We are also not happy with the Congress candidate, Prestone Tynosng who had promised many things in the past, but in vain”, HNPF leader said.

The HNPF also said that its volunteers will keep a watch during the elections to check any mal practices.
