Arms license holders fail to deposit weapons

JOWAI: Several arms license holders in Jaintia Hills District failed to deposit their weapons as per the order issued by the District Election Officers of both East and West Jaintia Hills Districts.

“Non-deposits of arms by license holders is a violation of the model code of conduct and stern action will be taken against them”, the Assistant District Election Officer, West Jaintia Hills, SS Syiemlieh said.

Several license holders particularly in West Jaintia Hills have not deposited their arms.

Police in West Jaintia Hills have listed the name of license holders who failed to deposit their arms and strong notifications have been issued to them for the second time. Notices have been served to those license holders who have failed to deposit their arms through their respective Rangbah shnongs.
