Youths recall teachings of Swami Vivekananda

SHILLONG, Jan 12: Along with the rest of the country, Meghalaya celebrated National Youth Day on Wednesday, which is observed as the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, with many a youth recalling the teachings of the visionary leader.
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Shillong, along with Ramkrishna Mission organised a programme, which was held in adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Participants paid floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda and fondly remembered his teachings. The programme started with the National Anthem, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The chief guest, State Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Atul J Nikam, called upon the youths to follow the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda and imbibe his ideas to occupy a responsible place in the society.
Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Hitakamananda Maharaj, and Youth co-ordinator from the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Bobby Wahlang, also called upon the youths to draw inspiration from Swamiji’s words and take greater responsibilities in nation-building.
Students of the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre presented a Khasi song ‘Ka Sneng Ka Khra’.
Sports Officer from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Bansara Dhar, Archery Coach, Khlain Pyrkhat Syiemlieh, football coach Debasis Datta NYK Shillong were among the participants of the event.
The celebration was in line with the 25th National Youth Festival launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The festival aims to shape the minds of India’s youth and transform them into a united force for nation-building.
