Dy CM satisfied with progress of Shillong-Dawki road project

SHILLONG, Jan 13: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Thursday, said that he is satisfied with the progress of the construction of the Shillong-Dawki road even as he informed that the construction of the new bridge over Umgnot river will commence very soon.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said that the implementation of this crucial road project is going on in full swing, while adding that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) will soon start the construction of the four-lane road from Umshyrpi to Banuiñ, Mylliem, once the felling of the trees is completed. “The four-lane road will help ease the traffic congestion along this road,” he said.Meanwhile, he informed that they have forwarded the matter on the final alignment of the Shillong Western Bypass to New Delhi.
The land acquisition will start once the alignment is approved by the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways, Tynsong said, adding, “The Deputy Commissioners of Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills have already started the land acquisition exercise.”
