Guwahati, Jan 18: The AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharjya said that the delegations of the students’ union along with representatives of the All Bodo Students’ Union, All Assam Rabha Students’ Union, Garo Students’ Union (Assam) and representatives from Gorkha groups would visit the six “less complicated” Assam-Meghalaya border areas soon.

“We have expressed our desire to visit the areas soon, and accordingly, the Assam chief minister has directed the respective administration in the districts to facilitate the visit to the border areas,” Bhattacharjya told reporters after interacting with the chief minister at the State Guest House in Koinadhora here on Tuesday evening.

The chief minister had apprised the students unions of the harmonious talks that led to taking up six border areas for finding amicable solutions.

He has sought cooperation in the mutually agreed principles during the interaction with the students unions as part of the endeavour to bring a permanent and lasting solution to the decades-old border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.
