SHILLONG: In a jolt to the BJP, Chief Electoral Officer P Naik on Sunday said that re-polling is unlikely in Wahiajer under Nartiang constituency in West Jaintia Hills.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Naik said, “I don’t think there is any need for re-polling.”
He, however, informed that he has sought a report from the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills.
Naik also informed that the State Election Department will have to recommend the Election Commission of India if any re-polling is required in any of the polling station.
The BJP, had, on Saturday demanded for re-poll in A, B, C and D polling stations in Wahiajer while alleging that Congress supporters had prevented the polling agents of the BJP to perform their duty and had even torn their appointment forms.
