TURA, Jan 27: The Principal of Haripuri Namabilla Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills who was earlier accused of attempting to recruit two Science teachers illegally for his vested interests, has denied the allegations terming the charges against him as baseless.

Earlier, the former SMC president of the same school, Jamial Hoque had alleged various anomalies in the recent recruitment of two teachers and had demanded that the already taken interview be scrapped.

Issuing a clarification on the matter on Thursday, Principal Hadisul Islam claimed that the recruitment was done by following proper procedures and with the authorization from the DSEO.

With regard to Hoque’s earlier accusation that the appointment of two assistant teachers was illegal as the advertisement was made by the school principal alone, Islam said that after students requested for the appointment of additional teachers, a meeting was first held with the DSEO during which a resolution was passed and the same approved by the official. Islam added that the selection of candidates was done by the Interview Board, of which the DSEO himself was a part.

On the question raised by Hoque why the teachers have been appointed while the formation of the SMC has been kept pending, Islam said that the appointment of teachers was necessary but the SMC formation was put on hold due to the Covid situation.
