SHILLONG, Feb 2: Following the death of senior journalist, Melquire Batlem Laitphlang, condolences from the political fraternity of Meghalaya poured in on Wednesday.
Former chief minister, Dr Mukul Sangma, was one of the political leaders to condole Laitphlang’s demise.
“The sudden demise of Melquire Batlem Laitphlang, one of the highly promising journalists, has given me a shook-up and I am deeply saddened! I lost a friend and a brother; my deepest condolences to the family and may the departed soul rest in an eternal peace.”
Venting grief, Cabinet Minister, James PK Sangma, said, “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and colleagues. I pray the Almighty grant them solace and comfort in this hour of grief.”
Transport Minister, Dasakhiatbha Lamare too, extended his condolences to the family and friends of Laitphlang.
