Ex-DGP named as security advisor to govt

SHILLONG, Feb 3: The government has appointed former state Director General of Police, R Chandranathan as Security Advisor to the Meghalaya government with immediate effect.
As security advisor, Chandranathan will coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and other central and intelligence agencies and supervise VIP security in other parts of the country except Meghalaya.
As per the notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Home (Police) department, DP Wahlang, the office of the security advisor will be located at the office of the Resident Commissioner, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi.
The former DGP will be paid a monthly honorarium of Rs 75,000, a vehicle and other allowances, for his one-year tenure which may be extended as per need.
In another notification, the Home department has posted SP (Security) Benjamin Thabah as the SP (Borders).
SP (Anti-Infiltration Directorate) Spill Thamar has been transferred and posted as the SP (Fire & Emergency Services), Meghalaya. Deputy Commandant, 3rd MLP Bn, Sahbsein Moon Hubert Khongshei is posted as SP (Anti-Infiltration Directorate) while Addl. SP of South West Garo Hills Rupam R. Marak has been posted as SP (Security).
