SHILLONG, Feb 6: The Congress said playing saviour is a cliché used by every political party.
“Every party will say it is the only one which can save the state. But will the people of Meghalaya save these parties? They are claiming they will get absolute majority but we need to see,” Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh said on Sunday.
She was countering the claims of the regional parties that they will gain from the entry of the All India Trinamool Congress into the state. The United Democratic Party has already asserted it stands to gain from the latest political developments.
“Where are the regional parties going? Who are they likely to form the government with?” she asked.
Pointing out that there are only two BJP MLAs in the state while the NDA claims it is the one in-charge, Lyngdoh said, “We need to figure out, as responsible leaders of Meghalaya, the direction we want to take and the kind of government we want.”
