TURA, Feb 7: In another jolt to state Congress, two-time MLA from Raksamgre, Limison D Sangma, has resigned from the party, citing unavoidable circumstances.

Limison sangma.

According to party sources, Limison, who is the brother of AITC MLA Jimison D Sangma, is now likely to join the National People’s Party (NPP) after alleged preference for the seat of an AITC candidate is likely to be given to former GHADC CEM and incumbent MLA of Raksamgre, Benedic Marak.
Jimison was among the 12 rebel MLAs who defected the Congress for AITC.
Although Marak has denied joining the AITC, there are indications that in time he is likely to join the Mukul Sangma’s in the party soon.
“There has already been an indication that former CEM, Benedic Marak, is likely to join the AITC though he will await for his term as an MLA to end. This has left Limison with very little option than to join the NPP because the Congress is not making headway in the area after the desertion of key members of the party,” said the source.
Benedic is the current MLA and MDC of Raksamgre and his ouster as the GHADC CEM has precipitated a tumult. He has, however, confirmed that he will continue to be part of the NPP for some time.
His close aide, MDC from Naguapara Dhormonath Sangma, is also expected to join the AITC and become a very close contestant in nearby Tikrikilla constituency.
