SHILLONG: One of the biggest surprises in the Assembly elections was the defeat of the NPP leader Conrad Sangma who lost the Assembly election from Selsella constituency.
Going by the comments of the youths, it is evident that Conrad Sangma was one of the most popular MLAs in the Assembly.
The social networking site, ‘Facebook’ is flooded with comments of people especially youths who are shocked over the defeat of the former Opposition leader.
Many of the youths are of the opinion that the two Sangma brothers-Conrad Sangma and James Sangma were the limelight of the Assembly as they were among the few outspoken MLAs in the Assembly.
Though,James Sangma won the election from Daddengre constituency, Conrad Sangma lost the election from Selsella after he was defeated by Congress candidate Clement Marak with a margin of 2107 votes.
Many of the youths in the social page “Meghalaya Assembly Election 2013” of Facebook say that they will miss Manas Chaudhuri and Conrad Sangma in the Assembly.
Not only this, the profile of Conrad Sangma is also flooded with comments expressing their sadness over the defeat.
Some of the youths were also of the opinion that Conrad should have had contested the election from an urban area where his popularity is more than the rural areas.
