TURA, Feb 27: Rampant corruption as well as the alleged failure to execute various central schemes has led to mass exodus from other political parties to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a statement issued by the party claimed on Sunday.
“Rampant corruption and inexecution of central schemes have compelled likeminded citizens to support BJP as they see it as a hope for the people of Hill areas as well as the plain-belt areas of Garo Hills. Hundreds of senior citizens and young supporters of other political parties from Mahendraganj and other areas came in buses and private vehicles to Tura to join BJP and extend support,” the statement issued in this regard claimed.
According to the party, people from different communities expressed their dissatisfaction over the non-delivery of schemes and came forward to be a part of the country’s biggest political party.
Party functionaries who reportedly attended the joining ceremony included state vice president and BJP Tura MDC Bernard N Marak, district president Daulat Chada Marak, youth president Anish Sangma, South Tura president Rabi T Sangma, and others.
