SHILLONG, March 2: Six more students from Meghalaya landed safely in New Delhi from war-torn Ukraine on Wednesday as part of the central government’s evacuation mission dubbed “Operation Ganga”.
So far, 18 medical students from Meghalaya have landed in the country since the rescue mission began on February 26.
“Six more students from Meghalaya, who were studying in Ukraine, have reached Delhi safely,” Sampath Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Meghalaya in New Delhi, said.
“While six students from the state, pursuing studies in the war-torn country were en route to the Hungary border, six were in Budapest, two in Romania and five in Poland,” Kumar said.
He further said that one of the students, who arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday, departed for Bengaluru while the other five were at the Meghalaya House and expected to reach Shillong by Thursday. (UNI)
