MCA U-23 cricket: EGH beat SGH; Ri-Bhoi thrash SWKH

SHILLONG, March 12: Diankey N Sangma led a patient yet successful chase for East Garo Hills as they beat South Garo Hills by three wickets in Zone 2 of the U-23 Boys Inter District Cricket Tournament in Mendipathar, North Garo Hills, today. The other match, in Zone 1’s Group B, saw Ri-Bhoi take down South West Khasi Hills by 131 runs. EGH won the toss and opted to field first. Jangrik (33) and Sundaybirth K Marak (25) were the highest scorers for SGH as they were bowled out for 153 in 38.3 overs. Diankey took 2/16. EGH lost their first three wickets for just 16, with good bowling from Erybel R Marak (2/13), but Subham (28) and Player-of-the-Match Diankey (49*) turned things around. In the other match, Ri-Bhoi batted first after winning the toss and posted 224/9. Badonnam John Mylliemngap made an unbeaten 63 and Player-of-the-Match Bharat Gurung scored 62. Costerfield Lyngdoh finished 5/39. SWKH were all out for 93. Banshanbor Syiemiong top-scored with 33. Bharat took 4/24.
