Purple Rain to clash with MeECL in final

SHILLONG: MeECL defeated SS NetCom by three runs and Purple Rain Entertainment defeated MLP by 67 runs to reach the finals of the Inter Office cum Corporate T-20 Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Grounds on Wednesday.

In the first semifinal, MeECL won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 104-8 in 20 overs. Johnny John scored 35, while Pritom Bhattacharjee took 4-23.

In reply, SS NetCom were short of the target, scoring 101 all out in 19.5 overs. Pritom Bhattacharjee made 41, while Robert Lyngdoh took three wickets for 18 runs.

In the second semifinal match, Purple Rain Entertainment won the toss and elected to bat first. They made 138-5 in 20 overs.

R Marbo scored 38 of those runs, while Kamal Thapa accounted for three wickets for 24 runs.

In reply, MLP were bundled out for just 71 runs in 17 overs. Rikseng Sangma scored 12 while Rajiv Rai took 3-11 runs from his three overs.

The final will be held on Thursday at 9am. DP Wahlang, IAS, Commissioner for Sports, Meghalaya and AG West, Executive Director (Finance), NEEPCO Pvt Ltd, Shillong have consented to be the special guests.
