NONGSTOIN: The KSU, Nongstoin circle has urged the Health Minister to post a full-fledged officer at the District Tuberculosis Hospital (DTH) at Nongstoin.

Currently the post is being held by Dr WW Phira who is also the District Malaria Programme Officer.

“Assuming dual charge is extremely difficult and at times leads to negligence of one job at the cost of other,” Phira told the KSU members who inspected the Hospital along with their president Davis Goldfield Wanniang and general secretary Rishot Kharbani.

Later the KSU members also visited the Community Radio Station. The Community Radio Station in Nongstoin has a service radius of 250 metres only, which meant that it was unable to reach the rural areas.

The Union urged the Government to upgrade the Station to a Local Radio Station thereby increasing the service radius. “For villagers who do not have television, a radio can be informative and entertaining,” the KSU Nongstoin circle president said.
