Academicians discuss NEP 2020, its challenges

SHILLONG, March 26: Academicians from across India came together for a two-day symposium to confer about at length the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its challenges.
The two-day symposium, which ended here on Saturday, held discussions on ‘Prospects and Challenges of Teacher Education in the light of NEP 2020’.
Organised by the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong, the event was attended by North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla and University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma as the special guest and chief guest respectively.
Shukla, in his address, said that such an event will help educational institutes prepare towards implementation of the NEP 2020 and equip them in facing the challenges.
Other academicians who were part of the programme include Prof Md Akthar Siddiqui of Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, Prof S Mani of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Prof SM Sungoh and Prof C Nongbri of NEHU, among other dignitaries.
They stressed collectively on the need for professionalism with a humane approach, critical thinking and sought for collective efforts of all stakeholders and government towards uplift of education.
A panel discussion on ‘Challenges of Implementation of NEP 2020 in Teacher Education’ was moderated by former education minister Manas Chaudhuri.
All in all, the two-day event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of attendees.
