JOWAI: A person identified as Moni Singh (37) from Manipur working in a shop- Suchiang Hardware at Iawmusiang Jowai died on the spot after he was attacked by his close friend, Arun Singh also from Manipur here on Thursday at around 8:30 am.
The accused came to the shop as usual had a chat with Moni Singh, they shared a cup of tea and later offer him a ‘Bidi’ and while lighting his smoke, he (Arun Singh) took out a ‘dao’ and hit him hard on his neck and killed him.
The killer made proper plans prior to the attack as he had already hired a vehicle and fled away immediately. “We saw him fled towards Thomas Jone Synod College and the vehicle (Maruti Van) he used to escape was parked there.
Though some people saw him fled away with the vehicle, however, they could not notice the number plate.
The incident took place opposite the Jowai Police Station and the police could not trace and arrest the accused.
The victim left behind his wife and two children- one 3 months old and another 3 and half years old.
