Flower show competition held

SHILLONG: The Grand Annual Flower show and Best Garden competition was organised in the city on Saturday.

The event was conducted by Station Headquarters Shillong under the aegis of Headquarters 101 Area.

It may be mentioned that this event, held annually has been a feature for the past 24 years.

Speaking on the occasion, GOC 101 Area Lieutenant General RS Panwar desired that all army establishments in Shillong do their best to enhance green cover in Shillong, by planting wide variety of flowering plants, indigenous variety of trees and bamboo groves. He also said that the need of the hour was to save space and water as both these precious natural resources should be put to best use.

Mrs Anupam Panwar gave away prizes in flower arrangement categories.

Major General Gurdip Singh gave prizes in certain best garden categories. Lt Gen Panwar the chief guest gave away trophies to the winners in the Best garden and other competitive categories.
