SHILLONG: The recent victims of ostracism, Jien Khongwet and her family from Wahlyngkha, Pynursla, have been shifted to another village to ensure that their safety is not comprised with even as the police are yet to make any arrests in the case.
Informing this here on Sunday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang said that the police are still investigating into the matter.
The case was brought to the fore after an FIR filed by CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing against the Dorbar of Wahlyngkha recently for ostracising Jien Khongwet and her family under charges of witch-hunting.
“No protection has been provided to the family as yet but if the need arises, security will be given accordingly,” Kharkrang said on the security aspect of the victims.
Meanwhile, CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing said that members of the Wahlyngkha Dorbar Shnong visited her recently asking her to withdraw the case even as they refused to remove all the charges levelled against Khongwet and family.
