SHILLONG, April 18: Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong on Monday said the state government is studying the report of the independent committee which probed alleged irregularities in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
He told reporters that he will give a brief on the findings and recommendations of the committee next month after the officials finish studying the report.
Tynsong, who is also the Power Minister, assured that the government will try its best to meet the recommendations.
“We will table the report during the next Assembly session. We will be more than happy to place the report in the public domain,” he said.
The committee, headed by Justice (retired) RN Mishra, had submitted the report to Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on March 29. The probe panel was constituted on July 29 last year.
The inquiry pertained to procurement, aggregate transmission and commercial or AT&C losses, implementation of the Saubhagya scheme and human resources management.
The commission earlier stated that it had prepared the report after looking into relevant records, visiting the offices of MeECL and holding interactions with its officials as well as the officials of its three subsidiaries – Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Ltd, Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Ltd and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd.
