SHILLONG: The police are yet to determine the actual age of the minor girl involved in the murder case at Kyndong-Tuber in West Jaintia Hills recently even as they maintained that they have doubts on the claims made by the accused that she is a minor.

The West Jaintia Hills police arrested five out of six accused, three males and two females for allegedly murdering two coal traders, Wit Latam and Troman Tangliang, both hailing from Myntriang village of Lumkhroh, Kyndong-Tuber on January.

The police are yet to trace the last accused and the murder weapon in the murder case and investigation is still on to trace the last man.

Last month, police arrested three males involved in this case-Deimon Dhar (27), Pynbait Talang (21), both hailing from Kyndong Tuber and Thomas Jones Ryngkhlem (25) from Wapung followed by the arrests of two females both below the age of 20 on March 23 and 26 from Shillong and Skhentalang respectively.

Four out of the five accused have been forwarded to the court and the fifth one was forwarded to the Juvenile Home following her claim that she is a minor and all the five of them have confessed the crime.

However, not satisfied with the claims made by the minor, the police will sent the samples to the Forensic lab in Shillong to determine the actual age of the minor girl. “At present, the matter has been kept in abeyance since the case is still going on in the court and we will get to know the age of the girl in the course of investigation”, a senior police officials said.

Meanwhile, Lyngdoh has also informed that they will continue to question two of the accused, Deimon Dhar and Pynbait Talang following suspicions that they may be involved in the murder of one Phiyoo Susngi, a herd gazer from Nangbah village last year as the victim’s mobile phone was found from their possession.
