KOHIMA: Gauhati High Court, which heard the writ petition of the Naga Mothers’ Association(NMA) in connection with 33 per cent reservation for women in civic bodies, has fixed the next hearing for July 25.According to official sources here on Saturday, during Friday’s hearing of the writ petition, advocates representing the Nagaland government sought time till September, when the Assembly session is due and when necessary amendment to the act will be tabled in the House. However, lawyers representing the NMA argued that sufficient time had already been given to the state government for which the judge had granted another ten days to the respondent. The Naga Mothers’ Association had filed a writ petition before the single judge bench of Justice P. Sharma in the high court’s Kohima Bench on June 24 following the state government’s failure to implement the 33 per cent Reservation Act, which was unanimously. (UNI)
