Inter-school cricket: Buddha Niketan, St Nanak register wins

SHILLONG: Buddha Vidya Niketan defeated St.Edmund’s Higher Secondary by four wickets and St.Nanak Secondary School defeated B.K.Bajoria by seven wickets in the league matches of the 5th Babu Ondromoni Dkhar Memorial (U-19) Inter School Cricket Tournament at the Cricket Grounds, Polo on Friday.

In the first match, St.Edmund’s won the toss and elected to bat first piling up a competitive 150 runs in 25 overs at the loss of three wickets. The highlight of the innings was a quick fire 53 of 46 balls by Praveen Kumar while Bishan Tamang took 1 for 21 of his 5 overs. In reply, Buddha Vidya Niketan made the chase look comfortable reaching 151 for the loss of six wickets in 19.3 overs. Rahul Barua guided his team with a well made 57 of 59 balls while Abhay Kumar took 1 for 34 of 5 overs.

In the second match, St.Nanak Secondary School won the toss and put B.K.Bajoria into bat.

The decision paid off as Bajoria was bundled out for 63 runs in 16.1 overs. Inder Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 5 for 14 of 4.1 overs.

In reply, St.Nanak Secondary School chased the total in 10.4 overs losing only three wickets. Srikant Pradhan scored 18 runs of 24 balls while Saurav Sharma took 1 for 18 runs.
