SHILLONG, May 27: A project to augment the primary health centres (PHCs) and sub centres in Meghalaya with Solar Direct Drive Vaccine Refrigerators has been announced by a Luxembourg-based medical cold chain solutions provider, B Medical Systems, according to a statement issued here.
The Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to India, Peggy Frantzen, visited the Mawlynrei centre to commission the device.
She presented the first made-in-India vaccine carrier to the centre.
The solar direct drive refrigerators manufactured by B Medical Systems are powered by solar energy and ensure safe storage of vaccines even in locations with unreliable electricity.
