 SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Education, Prof RC Laloo, said that there are various formalities that needs to be completed before the Tirot Sing Memorial College to be provincialised. “The governing body of the college adhered to the terms and conditions laid down for the purpose,” Prof Laloo said while replying to a question raised by Mairang legislator Metbah Lyngdoh during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Thursday adding that a Cabinet memo on the matter would also have to be prepared for the Cabinet to

take a final decision.

He said that at present, the inspection report for provincialisation of the college has been completed.

Mairang Government Hospital
Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek assured that he would inquire if people have been asked to pay for getting tests done in the hospital.
“As per available records, all the testing which is being carried out should be free of cost since the expenses are being met by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM),” Hek said while replying to a query by Mairang legislator.
Informing that the hospital at Mairang is 100 bedded, he said that presently, there are ten doctors in the hospital which is also a First Referral Unit (FRU).
Agriculture Mechanical Wing
While replying to a question by Lyngdoh, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma that the branch office of the Agriculture department at Mairang is being looked after by the Assistant Agriculture Engineer (Mechanical) based at Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills.
Status of playground at Nongkhlaw, Mairang
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith M Sangma informed that the construction of the playground at Nongkhlaw is making good progress.
Replying to a question raised by the Mairang legislator, Sangma said that a total amount of Rs 41.47 lakh has been sanctioned for the project out of which Rs 2.10 has been released so far.
“The expected deadline for the completion of the project is March 2014,” the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister said.
