JSU concerned over delayed water project

 JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) Mukhap Unit, expressed concern over the delay in the construction of Mukhap-Mootyrshiah Combine Water Supply scheme.

“It is nearly ten years now, the Public Health Enginering (PHE), RWS Division could not complete the project”, the JSU stated in a press release.

A team of JSU activists who inspected the project site informed that the water scheme was left half done and most of the pipelines have been damaged.

“The water scheme was supposed to meet the water crisis in the area and the non completion of the scheme has failed to serve the local people”, the JSU added

According to the JSU, a complaint has been lodged with the authority concerned regarding the abandoned half-completed project.

“We personally met the PHE officials and requested them to complete the scheme at the earliest so that people residing are benefited but the department failed to responsd. The JSU Mukhap Unit demanded immediate completion and commissioning of the water project.

The JSU also threatened to dismantle the receiver constructed to collect water if the concerned department failed to turn up and fulfill their demand.
