SHILLONG, June 23: Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Thursday said the government has directed the deputy commissioners of all districts to submit a report after assessing the damage caused by last week’s deluge.
“We have sought information from all DCs. I visited a few places in East and West Jaintia Hills to witness the damage caused by the unprecedented rainfall,” Rymbui said.
“The rain has subsided over the two days. So we hope that the officers will visit the areas and report to the district head and forward the same to the DCs,” he added.
Talking about the traffic flow on National Highway 6, Rymbui said in spite of the difficulties the traffic was restored on Sunday.
“As of now the traffic is flowing but at some portion it is only one way. The SP has alerted all his officers to man critical areas so that movement of vehicles is not impacted,” he added.
