SHILLONG: The Mawmluh Sirdarship has taken strong note of the fact that only one candidate from Mawmluh was selected in the recent recruitment drive at Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL).

In a letter submitted to the Managing Director of MCCL, Sirdar PS Lyngdoh issued a four-day deadline to review the recruitment results declared by the company.

The decision was taken at an emergent meeting of the Sirdarship executive committee on Monday after only a single candidate from Mawmluh was recruited by the company.

“This is a matter of grave injustice to the residents of the village where the factory is located,” the letter said while adding that this is a case of disrespect of the agreement that the company has with the village.

“We are deeply hurt and feel insulted by the recruitment result,” the letter added.

The sirdar alleged that only a limited number of candidates who had appeared for the practical and written tests were called for the personal test.

While warning of action against the company, the letter said, “We will hold you responsible for any incidents that may arise.”
