MDA allies reiterate support to Murmu

SHILLONG, July 12: Members of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance on Tuesday resolved to stand together and support National Democratic Alliance presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu in the all-important election to be held on July 18.
A meeting of the coalition partners late Tuesday night discussed the process of casting of votes for the upcoming presidential election. “Held meeting with our MDA partners to discuss the process of casting of votes for the upcoming Presidential Elections 2022. We stand together in favour of Smti Droupadi Murmu as the next President of India,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma posted on his social media handles after the meeting.
Attended by almost all the coalition MLAs and party representatives, the MDA partners unanimously decided to support Murmu.
“There were few who did not attend but they sent their message of support. No political party was missing,” a source said.
The source also revealed that the coalition partners discussed other issues concerning the state which included the recent natural calamities, power problems and appointment of teachers to fill up the vacant posts in various schools.
